Hi! I'm Meredith.
My husband Johnny and I have two boys, Declan (4) and Ollie (1 1/2). Prior to becoming a mama, I lived in Spain for 2 years teaching English and traveling Europe. After I returned home, I became a middle school teacher and taught Language Arts for almost 18 years. While I loved teaching and creating ideas for the classroom, I love being home with my family even more.
I created this blog as a place to house all my ideas. Here you will find simple toddler and preschool learning activities, DIY projects, adventure ideas for you and your family, and any and all of our creative shenanigans. I post more day to day activities on my Instagram stories f you want to follow there.
I chose the name Boots and Binoculars because we are a family who explores on all levels - in the woods, with our hands, in our own backyard. I think these two words symbolize what parenthood is essentially about: movement and observation. Boots help us move in all the elements - you can splash in them, walk in tall weeds, run. As a parent, we're always moving and changing. Binoculars help us observe. For binoculars to really work, you must hold them still and wait. It's the same with kids. We must be patient, watch, and learn, and maybe if we are lucky, we'll catch a flash of something in the trees.
Thank you for being here!
Meredith
